Stefan Wykydal (Vienna 1976) studied painting at the University of Applied Arts Vienna with Christian Ludwig Attersee. His immediate surroundings, the cityscape in all its facets, serve as a source of inspiration for his work. Bus stops, buildings, public art, people or playgrounds are painted with acrylic on paper, shadowy and in large-scale, yet always remaining figurative. The artist strolls through the streets and rummages for motifs that are anchored in our everyday lives, that we constantly encounter and are part of the urban landscape. Stefan Wykydal was the winner of the STRABAG Artaward 2005.
