Anatole Ak (Linz 1956) studied at the Mozarteum University in Salzburg and lives in Engerwitzdorf/Upper Austria. Along with Oliver Dorfer, Robert Mittringer, Alexander Netusil and Reinhold Rebhandl, Ak is a founding member of the artist group K5 and a member of the artist association MAERZ in Linz. In 1980 the artist received the Kunstförderpreis des Landes Salzburg and in 1996 the Bauholding Kunstförderpreis, the predecessor of the STRABAG Artaward. Anatole Ak's pastose paintings in rich and strong colors are of great intensity; in their emotionality and intellectual demand they form a profoundly independent painting.
