Hubert Lobnig (Völkermarkt 1962) studied at the University of Applied Arts in Vienna and was awarded a Bauholding Kunstförderpreis, the predecessor of the STRABAG Artaward, in 1994. Lobnig combines different media, working with drawing, painting, video, photography, installation and art in public space. His painterly works deal with excerpts of interiors - fragments of everyday life that provide a small glimpse, but without representing a space in its entirety. Hubert Lobnig gives his scenery a very specific, restrained coloring, perspective and choice of motifs are reminiscent of snapshots from photography or film scenes, which the viewer must continue to think.
