Paul Nusitz (Klagenfurt 1974) has been a member of the Kunstwerkstatt de La Tour in Treffen near Villach since 2006. The Kunstwerkstatt de La Tour is one of the oldest studios in Austria where visually talented and creative people with special needs can develop and establish themselves as artists. Nusitz works mainly with ink pencils and with ink, which he applies to the paper with fine hair brushes. Trees, plants, simple everyday objects and peculiar animal and human figures are repeatedly used as motifs. He usually structures his works in such a way that the background consists of squares and rectangles strung together and the sheet is painted to the edges. The characteristic surfaces that define Nusitz's paintings exhibit the finest chiaroscuro, while their varying colors create dynamic tension and the impression of three-dimensionality.
