Hannes Mlenek (Wiener Neustadt 1949) studied as a guest student with Adolf Frohner at the University of Applied Arts Vienna. In his large-format paintings, reduced to a few colors, he combines painting with dynamic, gestural drawing. In many of his largely abstract works and huge installations, the human body, usually in motion, can be seen as the starting point of the tense, powerful compositions. In addition to works by Mlenek on canvas and paper, the STRABAG Artcollection includes the 10-meter-high installation "Evolution," created especially for the foyer of Tech Gate Vienna. The artist lives and works in Vienna and Lower Austria.
