Polish-born Joanna Gleich (Kluczbork/PL 1959) lives in Vienna since 1979, where she studied at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna under Wolfgang Hollegha. In 1998 she was the winner of the Bauholding Kunstförderpreis, the predecessor of the STRABAG Artaward. In her paintings on paper and canvas, Gleich works in series, repeatedly drawing inspiration from masters of the past - such as the color palette and especially the bright blue sky in the work of the Venetian Baroque painter Giovanni Battista Tiepolo, especially in his major work, the ceiling fresco in the Würzburg Residenz.
