Verena Dengler (Vienna 1981) studied at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna and is the winner of the STRABAG Artaward International 2018. Central to the artist's multifaceted practice are references to the fields of the applied and the questioning of the status of an individual work. From paintings, sculptures, found objects, Verena Dengler creates a body of work that deals with commonalities and absurdities of today, social phenomena and the economization of contemporary art. She makes strong reference to her own person, which she repeatedly brings into her exhibitions through self-portrayals. The two watercolors "Talent" and "Fraktus" are inspired by the applied field of stage design and explore forms of intertwining sketch and documentation.
