Martin Schauer (Innsbruck 1981) attended the Elisabethinum Axams for four years, two of them with a special course in painting, and the Integrative Art School Innsbruck for one year. Since April 2004 Schauer is a freelance artist and works with the support of academic and self-taught artists Christof Köfler, Ursula & Dietmar Tiefengraber, Annelies Sturm, Georg Federspiel and Armin Bacher. Martin Schauer lives in Innsbruck. The artist works primarily in mixed media, using colored pencils, acrylic and tempera paints, watercolor, and rough putty, often applied in several layers on top of each other on paper or canvas. In addition to drawing and painting, Schauer also works with drypoint etching. Martin Schauer is supported by the Fonds andersART, a platform that aims to promote, establish and support self-taught artists with mental illness or intellectual disabilities.
