Walter Nagl (Grinzens 1939), son of a Tyrolean family of mountain farmers, already showed artistic inclination and talent in his early childhood. After graduating from the industrial school in Innsbruck, sculpture department, and training at the Munich workshop for large sculptures, he received a scholarship for gifted students from the province of Tyrol and was thus able to study sculpture with Hans Andre and painting with Herbert Boeckl at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna. Walter Nagl's painterly and sculptural work is in the tradition of classical modernism. Composition, brushwork and form present themselves calmly and harmoniously. The themes revolve around the female nude, portraits, still lifes and landscapes.
