Matylda Burszta (Poznan/PL 1992) studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Wroclaw, currently she works mostly in Serbia. In her works she combines different, partly recycled materials such as fabrics, photographs but also oil paint, ink and yarn. She deals with essential questions of our human existence such as future plans, relationships, dreams, and emotional worlds - those things that make up all of our lives. One of the central motifs in Burszta's work is the human figure, which she depicts in a reduced, contourless, and often genderless manner. The artist embroiders these body outlines, perceiving the craft, which usually has female connotations, as a kind of artistic freedom. With her motifs, on the other hand, she makes reference to current events, such as the pandemic and associated feelings that could be observed in society - panic, anger and indifference.
