Rudi Benétik (Jaunstein/Podjuna, Carinthia 1960) studied at the Art Academy of Ljubljana and lives and works in Jaunstein/Podjuna. In 1996 he received recognition from the Bauholding Kunstförderpreis, the predecessor of the STRABAG Artaward. On large-format canvases, sheets of paper or wooden panels, most of which are primed in restrained white or shades of gray, Benétik inscribes signs in black, using a clear, poetic, almost ascetic vocabulary.
