Hermann Nitsch (Vienna 1938–2022 Mistelbach) is one of Austria's most internationally renowned and successful artists and co-founder of Viennese Actionism. He deals with painting, action art, composition, theater and literature - his work culminates in the synthesis of the arts of the Theater of Orgies and Mysteries. Color takes a central role in his work: As early as the 1980s, Nitsch conceived a theory of color in which he explored the symbolic, sensual, expressive, and associative qualities of each nuance. The STRABAG Artcollection includes, among others, a nine-part drip painting cycle, which is exhibited in the foyer of the STRABAG building in Bratislava. Nitsch's intense devotion to color is particularly evident in this type of drip paintings, which have been created since the early 2000s.
