Tyrolean-born Georg Salner (Galtür 1958) mixes abstract and representational elements in his works. After studying graphics at the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna, he developed a particular preference for miniature etchings and drawings. Today his oeuvre includes works on paper and canvas, but also repeatedly conceptual and installation works. For his conceptual series, Salner collects impressions and inspiration from all over the world in the form of sketches, sequences of numbers, color combinations, shaping or photographs. The artist transfers these strictly systematically onto canvas. Clearly defined surfaces, symmetry and repetition are the artist's preferred creative means, the pictorial structure ensures clarity and orientation, while the interplay of colors and shapes are finely coordinated.
