Eva Gentner (1992 Ellwangen an der Jagst/DE) studied at the Akademie der Bildenden Künste Karlsruhe and is a lecturer there. Her artistic practice ranges from painting to performance and spatial installations. Depending on her thematic interests, she searches for materials with which she can artistically formulate her ideas. The series "Implementation of Geocentrism" was created during a lockdown residency in Paris, where she saw SpaceX's Starlink mission in the sky for the first time - hundreds of satellites passing by like a string of pearls. Gentner then did extensive research and found out that the United Nations had already approved the installation of tens of thousands more satellites of this kind. In doing so, they knowingly accepted that the appearance of our night sky could change fundamentally. A comprehensive series reflecting these developments was then created on historical cartographic paper. Eva Gentner received a recognition prize of the STRABAG Artaward International 2024.
