Samira Homayouni (Zanjan/IR 1986) studied at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna. As a child, she already had a strong interest in the representation of people when drawing and painting, although she does not aspire to a lifelike reproduction of a particular person. Her works are created intuitively by applying almost invisible color in the form of analog photochemistry to analog photographic paper. This approach allows her to portray characters and emotions related to her personal and cultural experiences. There are numerous ways for Homayouni to interpret what is depicted, as the image created can be reminiscent of a familiar person or show someone or something fictional. Homayouni creates projection surfaces and opens up spaces for reflection. The focus is always on the relationship to people. Samira Homayouni was awarded a STRABAG Artaward recognition prize in 2023.
