Sophie Gogl (Kitzbühel 1992) studied at the University of Applied Arts Vienna. Her works are always characterized by a strong reference to the present. She intuitively tries to process everyday things. The interaction between the analog and the digital is one of the themes she addresses in her works; this is also the case in the paintings she submitted on the occasion of the STRABAG Artaward International 2020: self-portraits in familiar, domestic settings, in which she looks into her cell phone in different postures, relaxed and absorbed. Gogl picks up on the great contradiction between the analog, focused, individual work as a painter and the appeal of being constantly connected to the world digitally, thereby not only reflecting a piece of her everyday life, but also questioning our information, reception and communication society and its structures. Sophie Gogl is a recognition award winner of the STRABAG Artaward International 2020.
