The sculptor and painter Thomas Stimm (Vienna 1948) studied at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna with Max Weiler and was also his assistant. Stimm became known for his recurring motif of nature pieces, whether drawn or sculptural. From miniatures to monumental formats, he depicts simple subjects from nature. Flowers in particular can be found in his work as early as 1986. With gigantic blossoms and leaves in radiant colors, they can be seen in public spaces. Elaborately cast in metal and concrete, they help shape the cityscape, sometimes temporarily, sometimes permanently. Stimm focuses on the interrelationship between nature and art. One of these larger-than-life sculptures of a dandelion is located in front of the STRABAG building in Spittal an der Drau.
