The Carinthian Slovenian Valentin Oman (St. Stefan near Villach 1935) studied at the University of Applied Arts in Vienna and attended the special class for printmaking at the Academy of Fine Arts in Ljubljana. In addition to painting and printmaking, the artist is also engaged in fresco painting and works for public spaces. The core themes of his works are the human figure and its existence, transience and transcendence, and landscape. Beyond drawing, the artist's working method combines printmaking techniques, reprinting processes, painting and collage. Regular study trips to Italy, Slovenia, and Croatia, as well as to more distant countries such as Yemen, Oman, India and Morocco, constantly provide new impulses for Oman's work. They form the inspiration for his images of people and landscapes, which always retain a fragmentary, multi-layered character due to his specific working method. Valentin Oman lives and works in Vienna and in Finkenstein/Bekštanj and is one of the most renowned Austrian artistic personalities; his works have been part of the STRABAG Artcollection for many years. In the ZÜBLIN building in Stuttgart, an artistic focus is dedicated to Valentin Oman.
