Andrea Pesendorfer (Gmunden 1970) lives and works in Linz and in Vienna. She studied painting at the University of Applied Arts Vienna and received a Bauholding Kunstförderpreis in 2000, the predecessor of the STRABAG Artaward. The artist works with textiles and creates her special paintings through her unique technique of "pulling threads". As the threads are pulled, new patterns emerge and the original shape of the fabric changes. Colors are exposed and come to light. Through the process of working the fabric, the initial structure of the material changes. The fabrics are subsequently draped by the artist and placed in space, air currents and light give the works an additional, very unique organicity.
