Peter Krawagna (Klagenfurt 1937) is one of the most important representatives of "nature abstraction", a painting movement that draws its inspiration from nature. Any everyday object can become a motif regardless of its real function, whereby Krawagna does not strive for a painterly reproduction of the respective objects. Of interest to the artist is rather the painterly realization of visual observations, of the play of light and color on the respective object - be it reflections on a traffic mirror, snow pushed together on the colorful surface of a snowboard, or a green garden bench on the shore of Lake Wörthersee. On the border to abstraction, rapidly set, delicate pictorial frameworks and sensual color compositions emerge on primed canvas.
