Cristina Fiorenza (Naples 1973) studied architecture at the University Federico II di Napoli, at the Technical University Berlin and at the Bauhaus University in Weimar. Fiorenza has lived in Vienna since 1998. In 2011 she received a recognition award from the STRABAG Artaward International. Cristina Fiorenza has a mature and cleverly conceived body of work that combines imagination and artistic richness. In her works, which often feature a combination of drawing and embroidery, Fiorenza explores urbanization, migration, and the culture of human habitation. She interweaves the many details and stories with serious backgrounds such as flight, migration and integration, the border as a human invention or the culture of dwellings.
