Victoria Coeln (Vienna 1962) studied mathematics at the University of Vienna and the Vienna University of Technology, and stage design at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna. The artist often works with interventions in public space, focusing on the interrelationship of space, light and color. Color-effect glasses are used as support material, the surface of which Coeln works on partly with etching or scratching techniques. Depending on the incidence of light or the viewing angle, the glasses produce a wide variety of colors and - when used as filters - create light spaces that the artist calls Chromotopes. The STRABAG Artcollection includes the artist's first daylight project: Chromotopia (2010) can be seen as a permanent site-specific installation in front of the main entrance to STRABAG's Molzbichl site.
