Alexandre Diop (1995 Paris) studied at the Inter-University Center for Dance in Berlin and at the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna. He deals with the most diverse themes and philosophical problematics of our time. The materials he mainly uses are malléables (malleable) or can and may change over time. The material serves Diop as a kind of tool to put together his idea. He tries to use and combine as many different materials as possible. Alexandre Diop paints, draws, makes sculptures and assemblages and sees working on his pieces as an attempt at constant thinking and learning. An essential tool for placing the various found objects on the support material is the stapling machine. Regardless of how robust or fragile an object used is, it is mounted in this way and becomes part of his artistic cosmos. Alexandre Diop won a recognition prize of the STRABAG Artaward International 2024.
