Ondřej Kohout (Prague 1953) studied stage design at the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague. Kohout's work is primarily concerned with sports and specific movement sequences. In his figurative paintings he depicts people engaged in sporting activities: Swimmers, runners, high jumpers. Sport and a healthy lifestyle are also essential for Kohout himself and have become a way of life. Nevertheless, he embeds his pictorial content in a humorous context. This can be seen first and foremost in the titles. The Czech-born artist lives and works in Vienna since 1981.
