As one of the most important Austrian artists of the 20th century, Max Weiler (Absam/Tyrol 1910-2001 Vienna) left behind a comprehensive œuvre with around 1,600 paintings, many works in public spaces and more than 3,000 graphic works. At the center of his work was the observation and exploration of the spiritual in nature. However, this did not result in the topographical reproduction of landscape, but in a gestural-expressive, abstract painting that made Weiler's style unmistakable in modernism.
