Konrad Koller (Villach 1916-2011 Villach) studied medicine and was a lifelong doctor, but painted and drew with enthusiasm from an early age. Fueled by his acquaintance with Herbert Boeckl and Anton Kolig, the self-taught artist developed an outstanding and stand-alone graphic, painterly and drawing œuvre. Fine lines and precise work with a playful ductus characterize his work. They are humorous, sometimes satirical motifs, which Koller impressively put on paper, negotiating all the major themes of his life, the conflict between art and profession, family and freedom, sexuality, religion and death.
