Ingrid Brandstetter (Schiltern/Lower Austria 1943) studied at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna with Maximilian Melcher. In comprehensive work cycles, Brandstetter approaches a wide variety of themes, such as mythological figures, films, or literary sources. It is often women in all their facets who are at the center of Brandstetter's painting. The portraits are fleeting snapshots, sensitively and attentively captured in painting by Ingrid Brandstetter. The artist works spontaneously and without preliminary studies directly on the canvas. The strong color contrasts, a liberated ductus and masterful lighting create atmospheric images.
