Andrea Bischof (Schwaz/Tyrol 1963) studied painting and graphics as well as textile design at the University Mozarteum Salzburg and lives and works in Vienna. In 1999 she was awarded a recognition prize of the Bauholding Kunstförderpreis, the predecessor of the STRABAG Artaward. Bischof's canvases, some of which are large-scale, are characterized by swirling color spaces in which foreground and background merge. With rhythmic brushwork and finely coordinated colors, Andrea Bischof paints her abstracted view of nature, creating vibrant, impressionistic, poetic works whose fascination is hard to resist.
