Peter Cvik (Bratislava 1985) studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Bratislava. He works a lot with the traditional genre of landscape painting, which he breaks up with architectural fragments of cities. In his works, various elements overlap without being precisely categorizable. Fragments of buildings, natural backdrops or even blurred areas of color and apparent spaces can be recognized. The artist tries to open up the field of interpretation as much as possible, as each viewer should have the opportunity to generate their own individual interpretation of what they see and how they remember it. In this way, each work contains its own story for both the artist and the viewer. As if Peter Cvik were beginning a sentence that can be thought through in different ways. The artist received a recognition prize of the STRABAG Artaward International in 2023.
