Wolfgang Seierl (Vienna 1955) studied at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna and at the University Mozarteum Salzburg. In his paintings and drawings he uses a wide variety of materials such as oil, acrylic, charcoal, colored pencil and chalk. On paper he first sketches basic ideas, which he later transfers to canvas. Layer by layer, Seierl applies the paint, working with very different formats: Sometimes he creates sheets the size of a hand, sometimes he creates monumental works. For the artist, it is above all the processual aspect that is relevant, the creation and visualization of surface and structure together with formal elements.
