Farid Sabha (Vienna 1962) studied at the University of Applied Arts Vienna and at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna. His artistic oeuvre, which includes painting, drawing, photography, artist books and objects, is characterized by a profoundly independent language of color and form. Working with egg tempera on carefully primed canvases creates powdery, matte surfaces. Sabha's idiosyncratic color choices and combinations create an individual color cosmos that ranges from delicate greens to purples to a broad spectrum of browns and ochres. Representationalism and abstraction coexist in the artist's intimate and sensitive paintings. In 1996 Farid Sabha received the Bauholding Kunstförderpreis, the predecessor of today's STRABAG Artaward.
