The Austrian painter Heinz Göbel (Salzburg 1947-2013 Frankenburg am Hausruck/Upper Austria) studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna under Maximilian Melcher. Göbel lived as a freelance painter together with his wife, the painter Maria Moser, in Frankenburg in Upper Austria. Early study visits, including to Egypt, led to a profound exploration of the theme of landscape, although the artist was not concerned with specific landscapes; he also did not paint on plein air, but processed his impressions, which he had gained from his own experiences in nature, in the studio. The vastness, the light, the clouds, the atmospheric characterize Göbel's works.
